With saddened hearts, the family announces the passing of Cyrile (“Cy”) Dewaele at his Langton home on February 9th, 2018 in his 95th year. Born in Fletcher, Ontario on October 10th, 1923 to the late Jules and Emma Dewaele. Beloved husband of Blanche Dewaele for 70 years. Loving father of Rev. Lawrence “Larry” Dewaele (Wendy); Janis Barnard (Don); and William “Bill” Dewaele (Patricia). Proud grandfather of 8 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Cy was a World War II Veteran and member of the Delhi Legion. Dedicated to his community, he was a charter member and past president of the Langton Lions Club, served on the Sacred Heart School Board, and coached and umpired baseball in Langton, winning many championships over the years.
Family and friends will be received by the family on Wednesday, February 14th, 2018 from 2 to 4 pm and from 7 to 9 pm at the MAURICE J. VERHOEVE FUNERAL HOMES-BURIAL AND CREMATION SERVICES INC., 40 Queen Street, Langton. Royal Canadian Legion Memorial Service to be conducted under the auspices of the president and officers of Branch 125, Delhi, on Wednesday at 4 pm at the funeral home. Parish Prayers, Wednesday at 6:30 pm. Lions District A-2 Necrology Memorial Service, Wednesday at 7:30 pm. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday at 10 am at the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, 24 Albert Street, Langton, by Rev. Father Thomas Kuriacko. Interment, Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Cemetery. Commemorative donations in Cy’s memory are payable by cheque only to “Camp Trillium (Rainbow Lake)” or “Sacred Heart Church (Renovation Fund)” or any charity of your choice.
